The Rotary Rocket's Driveline

Centerforce II Pressure Plate

The advertised 60% increase in grip also increases pedal pressure very slightly, but it still engages quite nicely.

Racing Beat light steel flywheel

Demands a little more skill at feathering the clutch and throttle, especially from a standing start, but the engine revs quite freely.

Mazda Factory Street Limited Slip Differential

The limited-slip provides increased rear wheel traction under hard acceleration, and results in improved handling characteristics during high-speed maneuvers.

4.444 Ring & Pinion Gears

This '7 is set up for a road course, not the speedway! These gears, along with the slightly shorter than stock wheel/tire package I'm running, result in an engine speed of about 4000 rpm at 70 mph in fifth ge Acceleration in the lower gears is vastly improved, however. First and second gears go by in a flash when you're under full throttle.

Other

The OE drum brake equipped rear axle has been replaced with the disc brake equipped axle from an '82 GSL. I've also rebuilt the stock transmission (all new bearings, synchros and a few other odd parts). A ful write-up on both procedures will be posted one of these days.
