Curing Carbon Lock
   by John Schubert
   Schubert13@aol.com

  1. Pull the plugs.
  2. Pour some solvent down the carb and in the plug holes.
  3. Let it sit for at least 24 hours (charge the battery while you're waiting).
  4. Leave the plugs out and try turning over the engine with a big long breaker bar (or tow it).
  5. If it turns over, clear out the solvent. Pour at least 2 to 4 ounces of automatic transmission fluid or Marvel Mystery Oil down the carb. Turn the engine over without the plugs just enough to coat all the seals (2 or 3 times).
  6. Let it sit for a few hours.
  7. Blow out the excess oil.
  8. Put in fresh plugs.
  9. Call the mosquito abatement department and see if they need any nearby areas treated. ;-)
  10. Crank patiently. Don't flood it.
  11. When it starts, go drive it (out of sight of your neighbors or after dark). There will be lots of smoke!!!
  12. Change the oil.
