Bolt Circle Compendium &
Wheel Interchange Manual

   by Steve Miller
   sjmiller@netcom.com
   with updates by Felix Miata
   mrmazda@gate.net

First Generation Rx-7's:

For all non-SE first gens the bolt circle is 4x110 mm. This is all there is:

Mazda:
R-100 (Familia)
RX-2 (Capella)
RX-3 (Savanna)
808 (including Mizer, both piston engined RX-3s)
RX-4 (Luce)
626 thru 1982
Rear wheel drive 323 aka GLC in US/Canada
Toyota
Corolla ? to ~71 1200 cc only

For 1984-85 SE's, the circle is 4x4.5". I have generally listed only rear wheel drive models unless I know they will fit, and only cars with wheels 14" or larger. The 4-bolt 2nd generation cars have the same circle, but I think that the offset differs slightly.

Chrysler:
Conquest 4-bolt
Mazda:
626 1984-87 FWD
RX-7 1986-1989 4-bolt
Mitsubishi:
Starion 4-bolt (the offset of these is suitable only with fender flares or wide body)
Nissan:
200SX rear wheel drive
240SX - 6" X 15" using same offset as 4-lug 626 6" X 15"s)
Z-cars, all 4-bolt
Toyota:
Minivan to 1988
Celica/Supra all RWD
Corolla all RWD [There seems to be some contention as to wether these belong here. -RR}
Cressida 1982-88

The 626 FWD wheels will sit a bit further in than the stock wheels, but they will fit with 205/60-14 tires (a friend of mine uses them for his street wheels, saving the RX-7 wheels for auto-x). Don't try a larger tire size, though, as another friend had his 215's rub on the inside. Conquests were available with optional 15x6.5 wheels in 4-bolt. 1985-88 Cressida had 15x6 wheels

240SX wheels are a perfect low budget 15" upgrade. 215/50-15 Yokohama AVSi's amply clear the struts, and 225/50-15 might also in the right brand. Even better is the 626, if you can find a set. They're rare.

Second Generation Rx-7's:

The book shows RX-7 5-lug with 5x4.5" circle, both for turbo and non-turbo. Turbo wheels are 16x7, non-turbo 15x6. Here's the list:

Jeep
Comanchee, Chief, Cherokee and Wrangler 1980-87
Chrysler
All RWD Custom, New Yorker, 300, Newport, Town & Country, LeBaron etc 1971-87
Conquest TSi 5-bolt
Dakota Trucks 5-bolt, also some other misc Dodge trucks
Equivalent cars in Dodge and Plymouth
Ford
Crown Vic 1979-87
T-Bird 1977-79
Mustang 5-bolt 1985-87
Taurus 1986-87
Some 5-bolt ford trucks
Most Lincolns after 1980
Equivalent Mercury models
Nissan
Z-cars 5-bolt (these go up to 16x7)
200 SX 5-bolt 1987
Mazda
929 1988
MX-6 5-bolt 1988 (didn't know there was one!)
Toyota
Supra 1986 1/2-87 (another 16x7)
Van & pickup 5-bolt

The offset on some front wheel drive cars may fit, but be careful. I'm only going by bolt circle.

On wider wheels, be careful for fit! Toyota Celica/Supra 7" wheels are the same bolt circle as an SE, but the offset makes it unlikely that they will fit (if anyone has information contradicting this, tell me, as I have eight of these wheels for sale!).

Note that certain wheels may have special lug nuts which may not fit the thread on the Mazda, which my catalog lists as 12mm x 1.50. Also, be careful of seat taper. Don't use Mazda lugs on non-Mazda wheels unless you are sure the taper is the same, or wheel failure may result. A better bet would be to use the lugs that belong to the wheel as long as the thread is O.K.

Please note that these catalogs have been known to be wrong. Also be sure to consider backspacing and caliper clearance.
